Democratic House Members Racing to Be the Most Horrible

When I was little, I lived down the street from Rosecroft Raceway, a harness racing track just outside the Washington Beltway.

Occasionally, we’d go watch the races at night or simply hear the race calls and roar of the crowd echo through the neighborhood.

When the wind was right you could smell the manure from the stables.

Watching today’s Democrats, I’m reminded of those harness races … except the stench is more intense.

Right now, you’re seeing among Democratic congressional members a harness race to determine who can be the most spiteful, antagonistic and loathsome toward Republicans. And the battle down the stretch is fierce.

The Field

The field for the race alone includes Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex.), Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), a new entry onto the track, Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.).

We’re talking about small people whipping up the harnessed Democrat voter remnant, whose blinders are firmly fixed as together they race around the track, going nowhere quickly.

Let’s start with Gomez. During a recent House Intelligence Committee hearing, Gomez actually asked Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA chief John Ratcliffe if Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was boozing it up during the now-infamous Signal chat.

Asked Gomez, “Do you know whether Pete Hegseth was drinking before leaking classified information?”

Gabbard did not bother to point out for the 100th time that there was no classified information in the exchange, nor was the story “leaked.” Nor did she respond in the way her facial expression indicated she wanted to respond.

Instead, she glared and said, “I don’t have knowledge of his personal habits.” Her, “You sniveling little twerp” was clearly implied.

Director Ratcliffe, however, did not hold back. “No, you know, No. That’s an offensive line of question! The answer is no!” Ratcliffe then began to rip into the hate jockey, but Gomez quickly interrupted with the cowardly “I yield back. This is my time.” Then he offered the bizarre statement that the question of Hegseth’s drinking during the Houthi mission is “on the top of minds of every American, right?”

And 315 million Americans go, “Uh, no.”

Waters Hanging On

That’s the same reaction to Maxine Waters, who in her bid to reclaim her former glory as the most offensive character on Capitol Hill, suggested that if we’re going to deport people, let’s start with First Lady Melania Trump.

“If [Trump] wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania,” she told an anti-DOGE rally in Los Angeles Saturday.

Yes, keep the blood-thirsty illegal immigrant gang-bangers. Ditch the supermodel.

As Newsweek reported, the first lady became a naturalized citizen in 2006 and then sponsored green cards for her parents. Both Viktor and Amalia Knavs became U.S. citizens in 2018.

If you’re attacking Melania Trump, your helmet is on way too tight.

Perhaps Waters is just getting desperate, because blowing past Waters in the high-stakes Harness Race of Hate is Jasmine Crockett.

Crockett Thunders Down the Stretch

In less than a week, Crockett has cheerfully suggested that it’s okay to punch your opponents, and that “this dude” Sen. Ted Cruz needed to be hit hard over the head. She also put her mitt where her mouth is by lashing out and shoving reporter with a quick and wicked move that would have impressed the Roman chariot racers in “Ben Hur.”

And during a Human Rights Campaign event, Crockett mocked Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott’s handicap, calling the paralyzed Republican, “Governor Hot Wheels.”

After being roundly criticized—even by “The View”—Crockett denied she was referring to Abbott’s “condition.” No, she was referring to “the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors.” Except the wizards of the web found cases where she reposted others using the term “Governor Hot Wheels” years before Abbott started transferring illegal immigrants out of Texas.

Gov. Abbott shrugged off the attack. “It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats,” he told Sean Hannity. “The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it.”

A Senator Gets Into the Action

Exactly. It’s all a show. Just Tuesday night, on the Senate side, it took the form of an endless steeplechase, a 25-hour rant on the Senate floor by the effusively irritating Sen. Cory Booker against President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and whatever else popped to mind.

None of this has any place in 2025 politics. And they’re never going to win if they keep it up.

But round and round the same track they’ll go. You can bet on it.
