Tesla Vandalism Update #3 – HotAir

I’ve started doing these updates weekly because while the national media has clearly moved on and decided this doesn’t look good for Democrats, local reports keep coming around the country. The wave of vandalism hasn’t ended, it’s just being ignored by the big news outlets.

If you missed the first update in this series you can read it here and update #2 is here. So what’s happening this week? Well, I’m not seeing any new cases of arson, which is good, but the acts of vandalism haven’t stopped. Over the weekend a man keyed a Cybertruck in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He has since been arrested.

Brendan Thomas Mullen, 20, pleaded not guilty and was released on $1,000 cash bail at his arraignment in Hingham District Court on Wednesday, the Hingham Police Department said in a statement.

Police said the Tesla’s owner reported Sunday that his truck had been vandalized while parked at a charging station in the Station Street parking lot in Hingham.

Mullen’s next court appearance is on May 16. Police released an image of the vandal in the act.

There was another incident reported yesterday in Montclair, New Jersey.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the owner said he parked his vehicle on Glenridge Avenue on Friday.

When he returned, there were several notes on the car, including phrases such as “Nazi Car,” “I scratched your car” and other vulgar phrases, authorities said.

The suspect, a thin male in his 20s, did in fact scratch up the car on the passenger side. Last week in  Indianapolis, Indiana a man was charged with criminal mischief for vandalizing a stranger’s car.

An Indianapolis man is accused of graffitiing a swastika on another man’s Tesla, according to court documents filed on Friday.

Per the documents, 42-year-old William Thornton “Thor” Wood painted the symbol on the Tesla while its driver entered a Shake Shack. When the driver returned 30 seconds later, court docs allege he found the swastika drawn on his driver’s side front door.

Another man in Avon, Connecticut had the same bright idea. Once caught, the suspect revealed his motivation.

An Avon man has been arrested for allegedly drawing a swastika on a Tesla car.

The vandalism occurred on March 26th at around 8:08 p.m. in the parking lot of 15 West Avon Road…

Officers identified the man as 40-year-old Steven Lowell Weinberger.

“While speaking with Officers, Weinberger admitted to drawing the swastika as he was upset with the current political climate in the country,” police said.

AutoEvolution has a story today about a Cybertruck that was so heavily vandalized in Los Angeles it was auctioned off as non-repairable.

The EV is now sitting in an Insurance Auto Auction yard, looking like not even magic can save it. It was the victim of vandalism and will need more than some TLC to return to the road. Everything is in pieces, in and out. Even the steering wheel is gone…

The listing says the primary damage is interior burn. There is no information about whether the vehicle simply ignited or it was set on fire. However, the blaze also affected the front wheel on the driver’s side.

Every sort of vandalism act you can imagine, this pickup truck already has it. It has graffiti, windows broken, burns, parts stolen or broken. Only the tonneau cover and the rear wheels escaped unscathed. The windshield was smashed, while the frunk lid was simply cut off in two. However, it might have been the firefighters struggling to put out the blaze the ones who cut the hood.

And of course there are more instances that don’t ever make any news at all.

There are a bunch more like this. Some of these folks are just pathetic. But maybe word is finally getting out about Tesla cameras. We’ll have to wait and see if there are more updates to be had next week.
